I’m pretty sure there aren’t enough photos of men on the site so I’m making it a point to show more. Honestly, there aren’t many photos of men in the street fashion photo pool but I will do my best to find some!

I thought this outfit was great for a warm nights stroll just about anywhere with some clubs to pop into. Love the bleached vest and spike cuffs, straight out of 1988.

Mother nature could easily be regarded as the world's greatest designer, according to new brand Right As Rain. For instance, is the perception of beauty man-made or is there natural beauty in fashion? To find out, an Italian designer and an organic farmer came up with the idea of growing shirts, having nature design fashion. After a two year period of growths in the hills of Umbria, near the Tuscan border in Italy, the first harvest is ready for the catwalk.

When Francesco Mugnaini, a 31 year old designer who had previously been working in the busy city of Milan, met Sebastian Runde, a 41 year old Scottish farmer running an organic farm in Umbria, Italy, they merged their different backgrounds and experiences to come up with a rather unusual fashion project: let's grow shirts. The unpredictability of nature was the seed for the idea, to plant and harvest shirts. The garments were exposed to nature's forces by planting them into the ground and give nature time to do her unpredictable design process. The result is stunning and every single design unique.

The T-shirt was considered ideal, as it is one of the most simple garments existing, there could be no better for the project. It is unpretentious, simple, like an empty canvas on which nature can create its designs. Francesco designed a shirt which truly complements the body, idealises it even. "We aimed for a focus on the aesthetics created by nature, to offer a perception of beauty man would never be able to create. We produce beautiful shirts, but it is nature who makes them truly unique," says Francesco Mugnaini.

The materials used had to be of a kind which would react with the soil, the water or sunlight. Naturally no synthetic yarns could be used, as not to create a thread of pollution. After many tests, a high quality organic silk proved best and gave the most interesting results.

The silk shirts are produced by local craftsmen with great expertise. Sebastian Runde, as an organic farmer, is very passionate about his concern for the environment: "Producing the T-shirts abroad in a country with low labour costs was out of question. We looked for local recourses and were very lucky, indeed. We manage to produce a garment, which is 100% made in Italy. The yarns are coming from northern Italy, the shirts are produced locally in Citta della Pieve."

The first collection from Right As Rain is harvested and up for sale on www.right-as-rain.com.

In a season of creative restructuring, French fashion house Balmain said it too has parted ways with its designer. Christophe Decarnin, the creative director behind the brand, was notoriously absent after the house's Autumn Winter 2011 presentation, but the house made no formal announcement of an imminent departure, creating months of speculation.

Decarnin, who undoubtedly revived Balmain with his edgy and luxurious casual aesthetic, has not made a statement, nor has Balmain offered an explanation for his departure.

Balmain didn't say who would succeed Mr. Decarnin, but a spokesman said the decision has been nearly finalized and an announcement would come within days.

Mr. Decarnin's runway absence came the same week in March as Dior designer John Galliano's firing following a drunken anti-Semitic outburst. Rumors swirled that Mr. Decarnin was being treated for depression; Mr. Galliano was seen as consumed by his work. A year earlier, English designer Alexander McQueen committed suicide.

The events culminated in a debate in the fashion industry over whether its cutthroat pace, with several clothing collections to produce a year in addition to overseeing other parts of a brand's image such as store design and advertising, was causing designers to crack. Dior hasn't yet named a successor to Mr. Galliano.

Mr. Decarnin was instrumental in bringing Balmain back from the brink of financial collapse. He joined the Parisian house, founded in 1945 by Pierre Balmain, as a stylist in 2005, a year after it had filed for bankruptcy protection. Several designers including Oscar de La Renta had circulated through the house following Mr. Balmain's death in 1982. Balmain's heyday seemed to be over, similar to French fashion houses such as Courreges and Pierre Cardin, and it closed its expensive couture operations in 2003.

Mr. Decarnin was the author of a rock-chic look—motorcycle jackets, destroyed T-shirts and glam minidresses—that debuted on Balmain's runway and trickled down into widespread fashion trends. His collections gave Balmain buzz that it hadn't had in years. That, together with
sky-high prices—such as a hole-ridden tank top costing €1,000 — boosted
the brand's fortunes.

Korean Fashion Show

Korean Fashion Show
A delegation from Sungshin Women’s University of Seoul, South Korea, brought their world-traveled Authentic Korean Fashion Show to Terre Haute on March 25, in Dede I of Indiana State University’s Hulman Memorial Student Union. Students from Sungshin and Indiana State universities modeled traditional Korean garments, as well as more modern fashions inspired by the ancient culture’s traditions. The delegation was brought to ISU and the Terre Haute community by the Office of the President through the university’s connection to the International Association of University Presidents, or IAUP. “I would like to thank Dr. Al Romo and the IAUP for making this opportunity available to ISU and our community. I think it is wonderful that Indiana State’s presence in global higher education can lead to our selection for this kind of cultural experience,” said Lloyd W. Benjamin III, president of Indiana State. Romo is the secretary-general of the IAUP. ISU’s International Affairs Center is assisting with hosting the delegation, and production assistance for the fashion show is being provided by Hulman Center. “We live in a globalized world and need to have a better sense of what other cultures are like,” said Michael Chambers, International Affairs Center interim executive director. “This fashion show creates an opportunity for our students and the community at large to interact with another culture.” ISU students majoring in textiles, apparel and merchandising, and students from the Fashion Merchandising Association are working backstage to gain experience producing and executing a show of this magnitude. Previous to coming to Terre Haute, the delegation will present its fashion show at the University of New Mexico, and will continue on from Indiana State to Chicago and then Yale University. While at ISU, Sungshin President Shim Hwa Jin, who is leading the 35-member delegation, and President Benjamin will sign a memorandum of understanding on March 24 at Condit House. “The memorandum will be a one-year agreement to discuss ways the two universities can pursue cooperation,” Chambers said. “We would like to consider mechanisms such as faculty exchanges, student exchanges, joint research projects, joint conferences and joint cultural programs as ways to pursue this cooperation.” Photos by Tony Campbell
